POINTON PRAISES CITY SUPPORT

29 March 2024

Bobby Pointon spoke about his pride in netting his first goal in front of The Kop, after City triumphed 2-0 over Tranmere Rovers.

Having been brought into the starting 11 and scoring the crucial second goal to double the Bantams' advantage against Tranmere following Calum Kavanagh’s opener, Pointon confessed his relief that the Bantams were able to return to winning ways.

Speaking on the win, Pointon said: “I am buzzing. The boys in there are buzzing.

“All the boys were at it today as well, from the first five minutes. We bounced off each other and it ended up working, and we got a result.

“Hopefully, we can play the same and do the same to get a result on Monday at Grimsby.

“We have got to go into Monday with the same mentality now and get a result.”

The goal was a special moment for Pointon who scored in front of The Kop end for the first time.

The City academy product spoke on the role of the supporters at Valley Parade and their backing for him and the team.

“I was in their seat when I was younger, and I gave the players all my support,” the winger added.

“I am glad it is working the other way round and I know they are all backing me and I am glad I have given them a goal to celebrate.

“On the goal, I took it inside then outside onto my favoured left, and I just smashed it into the top-left corner.

“It is obviously even more special in front of The Kop end, so yes, I am buzzing.”
