Richie Smallwood hopes the Bantams can use high spirits and confidence within the camp to their advantage, when they host Carlisle United in tomorrow's Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Semi-Final First Leg.

City’s skipper addressed how tomorrow’s visit of the Cumbrians “needs no dressing up”, and that he and his teammates “will be ready” in front of over 19,000 supporters.

“The mood is high at the moment, and we are all looking forward to Sunday,” he said.

“We made hard work of it, having lost to Crewe, but we should be proud of how we bounced back and crossed the line.

“There was a lot of apprehension and tension before the Orient game, but I thought we were really good in that second half to get something from the game.

“We are in a good place and we are on a solid run. We have the confidence and spirit to cross the line across two big games.

“I do not prepare any different - that might be a personal thing, but I prepare for each game the same.

“Every game is the biggest game of your career. Our next game is Sunday, and we will prepare as normal.

“The lads know how big the game is - it needs no dressing up. We will be ready, in front of another packed-out crowd.”

City's No.6 has his sights set on “getting one over” on Carlisle, after City failed to pick up more than a point against Paul Simpson’s side in the regular campaign, though he insists the Bantams are “under no illusions that they have to perform at their best.

Smallwood explained how he and his teammates are working on “giving back to the fans”, and is hoping to reward them for their commitment and passion this season.

He added: “Carlisle are a really good, well-drilled side, with a style of play that suits them.

“Both games against them this season have been tight, but we have not managed to get one over them yet.

“We will be looking to change that and we under no illusion we will have to play at our best.

“We have two games now, where we have to beat them.

“Us as players are just trying to give something back to the fans, as they deserve it more than anyone.

“We want to bring the glory days back.”
