OVER £18K RAISED FOR DARBY RIMMER MND FOUNDATION

25 June 2023

Bradford City AFC is delighted to announce a total of £18,818 raised for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, through the Claret and Amber Ramble.

The challenge, on Friday April 14, saw a team of City staff members trek 26 miles from the University of Bradford Stadium to Rochdale’s Crown Oil Arena, ahead of the Bantams' 3-0 victory at Spotland the day after.

Setting off from Valley Parade just before 7.00am on April 14, walkers took on the challenge in aid of the charity, founded by City legend Stephen Darby following his diagnosis with motor neurone disease in 2018.

The club had already smashed its fundraising target of £10,000 before departing, and with the JustGiving page now closed, the final total of £18,818 has been donated to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

Darby represented City between 2012 and 2017, captaining the side and making a total of 239 appearances, after appearing 40 times on loan for Rochdale during the 2011/12 season.

In 2018, he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, and shortly after set up The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation alongside his close friend, the late Chris Rimmer, in order to fund support for families affected by motor neurone disease, and research a cure.

Bradford City AFC would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated to the Claret and Amber Ramble fund, and helped the club raise £18,818 for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.
