Mark Hughes is embracing an "exciting" period of the season, and is looking to extend the Bantams' current positive vein of form in Saturday’s trip to Rochdale’s Crown Oil Arena.

The Welshman noted the sky-high morale and energy in the camp, as well as praising the recent performances that have seen City take seven points from their last three outings.

Hughes encouraged the confidence breeding amongst the Bantams and admitted it was important to “not dwell too much on setbacks”, and concentrate on moving forward.

“The morale is very high,” Hughes said.

“The energy is good in the building. I enjoyed the performance and the result on Monday. I was very impressed.

“It was one of our best performances of the season in my eyes, it was important to perform. Sutton still had ambitions for the play-offs, so we needed to finish the game appropriately.

“On paper, it was difficult, but I was impressed.

“The results have helped mentality. We have had one defeat in 16, and are currently unbeaten in 10 - it breeds confidence.

“We could have done better, but we cannot dwell on it. We know we can bounce back in the next game and we keep looking to improve.

“You have to embrace these exciting moments. It is important to be involved in the business end of the season.”

The City chief assessed the challenge awaiting City in Greater Manchester, and though Dale have undergone a changes off the pitch, Hughes wants his Bantams to use their confidence to frustrate the hosts.

He warned his side to avoid any apprehension, and use the 3,000+ travelling City supporters to their advantage.

“There is the added difficulty, because they are fighting for their lives,” Hughes added.

“They have changed their manager, and they have done okay in recent weeks, but I sense we are in a really good place and we will have a huge following.

“The fans encourage us so much. They were especially great on Saturday, and our away following is the best in the league.

“It makes me proud. At Doncaster, there was over 4,000, and there will be over 3,000 on Saturday. It is good for the club, and the players.

“It just gets the juices flowing. We cannot have any apprehension - we are all going to enjoy it.”
