Mark Hughes applauded his side's performance following the Bantams’ 2-0 victory over Sutton United at the VBS Community Stadium.

City took all three points home from South London thanks to goals from Andy Cook and Scott Banks either side of half-time.

The City boss was relieved Andy Cook's opener came at a time the Us had put the visitors under marginal pressure, but admitted he was happy with the overall chances the Bantams had created.

He said: “I am delighted with the lads, once again.

“This is a tough place to come. They are a team that plays in a certain style and approach, which differs a lot to us.

“The balance we are finding in our play is great at the moment. Away from home, we always look a threat.

“Two fantastic pieces of play from (Andy) Cooky and (Scott) Banksy and, overall, we all looked comfortable.

“The lads at the back were excellent. Roms (Crichlow) was as good as he has been all season and Yann (Songo'o) came in and did what we required.

“If we limit the time the ball goes into the box, then you are always faithful we will be safe from conceding, and I felt we did that today.

“Decent football was being played by us, and we had many other opportunities. Cooky could have had another and (Harry) Chappy's chance was very close going over the line.

“There were many touches of class and quality, and we took the game away from them.”

City's triumph in South London was their sixth win in seven away from home, as the Bantams' unbeaten record on the road was extended, and Hughes shared his pride in how the momentum and confidence from recent victories is impacting the squad.

The Bantams boss admitted the recent morale boost has come at the perfect time, as his side prepare to welcome Northampton Town next week, knowing a win over the Cobblers at the University of Bradford Stadium would put City in the automatic promotion places in Sky Bet League Two.

“Everybody is working hard, you can see that they are all working for each other,” Hughes added.

“There are touches of quality like Banksy’s goal, but you can see the whole side is feeling the momentum.

“They are all communicating well and always eager to push and press. I am really enjoying that aspect of our play at the moment.

“We are ready for more games like this in terms of opposition, and our eyes are on the huge game next week.

“Our away form is exceptional at the moment, so we need to go on a run at home and we can do that next week.

“Once we sort our form out at home, which I feel we are close to doing, we will be in a really good position.”
