Yann Songo’o saw plenty of positives from the Bantams’ performance following yesterday's 0-0 draw at home to Newport County.

The Frenchman was part of a backline which kept a clean sheet at the Utilita Energy Stadium as the spoils were shared in West Yorkshire.

Songo’o spoke positively about the way Mark Hughes' men played on the afternoon and is now hoping they can pick up some victories towards the end of the campaign.

He said: “I thought we were outstanding all over the pitch, and the only thing missing was a goal.

“After the game last week against Port Vale, we were disappointed with our performance.

“Playing at home again, we needed to prove ourselves to the supporters. We were satisfied with the performance but, of course, wanted to win.

“We kept another clean sheet which was good for us, and now we need to push and get as many wins as possible before the end of the season.”

Songo’o also sang the praises of manager Hughes for the impact he is having on the club since his appointment last month.

The 30-year-old is enjoying a new style of play and believes things will start to click sooner rather than later.

He added: “The manager has a way he wants us to play. He wants to be more confident on the ball and better and stronger defensively.

“The way we defend means everyone is ready to put their body on the line and prepared to help each other.

“In every game, we seem to be getting stronger and were really happy to get that clean sheet again.

“We are determined to keep clean sheets and win games which we showed. The way we have been learning on a daily basis has been fantastic.

“We have learned so much as a team in the last couple of weeks and all the hard work we have been putting in showed in a game like this.

“We are playing attractive football, moving the ball quickly and pressing. By the end of the season, we should be a really strong team.”
