Mark Hughes is keen to bring City’s recent away form back to West Yorkshire when Port Vale visit this Saturday.

The Bantams have secured back-to-back victories since their last outing at the Utilita Energy Stadium, taking all three points from Forest Green Rovers and Hartlepool United.

Hughes insists his side must take what they have learned on the road and put it into action against the Valiants.

He said: “We have a challenge at the weekend and could do with a good result at home, which will enhance the momentum we have already gained.

“You want to gain knowledge from the performances.

“The players should not feel pressure, it should be excitement. The bigger the game, the better the challenge and the more enjoyable the game is.

“Everyone will be at Valley Parade this weekend and we want to reward the home fans who have not been able to follow us away.”

The Welshman was keen to mention the progress he has overseen since taking the managerial post as City boss.

Hughes has been sure to lay the foundations for how he wants his team to play, both tactically and mentally, and credited the players for the difference he has seen.

He added: “I did expect us to be where we are at the moment, in terms of understanding and changing the way we want to play.

“The progress is all down to the players and their willingness to change ideas.

“You have to be brave enough to show your skill at the right time, and we are showing a great level of skill at the moment.

“The lads are playing really well and are backing it up with performances. As you can imagine, morale is really high.”
