CRICHLOW: 'ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT'

Man of the match Romoney Crichlow identified areas for improvement from the Bantams' opening-day draw at home to Doncaster Rovers.

City were frustrated by their South Yorkshire visitors at the University of Bradford Stadium, who were reduced to 10 men shortly before the half-time interval.

Crichlow, on debut, admitted the encounter was a “tough battle”, but feels he and his team-mates will continue to grow as the season progresses.

The Huddersfield Town loanee said: “It was a tough one. The way they came at us and set up shop, it was always going to be a challenge.

“For us, if we do not win, we do not want to lose, so we will take the point and the clean sheet. It is disappointing, but it is the first game of the season, so we have got a lot to improve on.”

“It was about breaking them down, and they made it difficult. They came with a gameplan and, whether you like it or not, they got what they wanted.

“So, for us, it is taking the clean sheet, and building on what we have done and taking positives from the game.”

The centre-half was awarded the man of the match after helping the Bantams earn their first clean sheet of the season, alongside fellow debutants Matty Platt, Brad Halliday and Harry Lewis.

Crichlow went on to credit the hard work and endeavour of the entire defence, as a collective unit.

He added: “The boys around me were solid, and did not put a foot wrong.

“Playing alongside Platty was good, and we had a great game as a defensive unit, including the goalkeeper too.

“As a defence, we will take that, look at the positives, and continue to do the same again.

“I really enjoyed it. Every tackle, every pass, every chance, the fans were behind us. I will never forget that. It was wicked.”
