BANTAMS BATTLE BACK FOR ORIENT DRAW

1 February 2022

City fought back to earn a point at the Utilita Energy Stadium, drawing 1-1 against Leyton Orient.

Darren Pratley put the away side ahead but the returning Elliot Watt netted a late equaliser for City meaning the points were shared.

The first chance of the game fell to City, who controlled the majority of the opening period.

Clever play from Oscar Threlkeld and Jamie Walker saw Matty Daly sneak in behind, but Leyton Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux got to the ball first to thwart him.

In the 34th minute Matty Foulds’ cross was cleared to Elliot Watt, who took a shot from distance but he was unable to find the target.

Just before the break, Alex Bass had to be alert to stop Omar Beckles' header and keep the scores level heading into the break.

City began the second period in a similar vein, as Callum Cooke whipped a cross into Andy Cook from a corner, who was left unmarked but proved was unable to direct his header on target.

The O’s took the lead in the 69th minute. City proved unable to clear from a free-kick after Beckles' header was stopped, and Pratley smashed into the roof of the net.

Ten minutes later Cook was once again left unmarked from a corner, but again was unable to find the target, before City finally pulled themselves level.

A cross was knocked down by Tom Elliott for the onrushing Elliot Watt, whose half-volley from distance was deflected into the far corner.

City pushed for a late winner attacking towards The TL Dallas Stand, with an opportunity for Tom Elliott, but it ended even.
