CITY TO PARTNER SUPER SOAPBOX CHALLENGE

22 April 2022

Bradford City AFC will officially partner the first-ever Bradford Super Soapbox Challenge - to be held on Kirkgate, on Sunday May 1!

The inaugural 2022 event will attract participants from across the nation to take part in a day of fun through the city centre, with 20,000 people set to attend.

Just a day after the Bantams’ final away fixture of the season at Sutton United on Saturday April 30, club officials will be present on the start line at 11.00am, with Bradford-born left-back Matty Foulds set to officially open the event.

The club will then enter a themed, non-motorised cart for the track, to be built by our friends at MetalTech, and bid for glory down the steep hill.

Raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Bradford Lions beneficiaries, and officially hosted by Bradford BID, this fun-filled, free family day out will also see live music performed and more entertainment provided on the day.

Andrew Pearson, events marketing director at The Super Soapbox Challenge Company, said: “We are pleased that Bradford City AFC have given their full support to the event by entering a team and providing one of their players to officiate the opening.

“Watch out for Sir Sidney Cartalot, our mascot, on the pitch on Saturday April 23, ahead of their match against Scunthorpe United.

“We are really grateful to our fantastic sponsors - both national and local - who have signed up to help us get this event on track.”
