BIG MATCH PREVIEW: CITY v SCUNTHORPE

22 April 2022

The Bantams will welcome Scunthorpe United tomorrow for their penultimate Sky Bet League Two home match, with kick-off set for 3.00pm.

Mark Hughes will be searching for his first win on home soil this weekend as relegated Scunthorpe will be the first visiting side to sit outside of the top 10.

We have created a Big Match Preview to give you all the key details you need to know, heading into the encounter.

TEAM NEWS

City: Elliot Watt will return to the fold for City after serving his one-match suspension on Monday, though Paudie O'Connor will miss the clash having picked up a similar ban at Colchester.

Oscar Threlkeld will be out with a calf injury picked up in Essex, while Tom Elliott has been ruled out for the season with a knee problem.

Abo Eisa is edging closer to a return to football after a lengthy spell on the sidelines following hamstring surgery.

Scunthorpe: Tom Pugh will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

Keith Hill is expected to include a few youthful faces after the Iron’s relegation was confirmed.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Mark Hughes: "The training has been first class, a good, high level. My expectation is that we start as we finished last time out here.

"In football, you get an opportunity to do something about a poor performance, and we have that chance at home against Scunthorpe.

"They can express themselves and free themselves. The anxiety won’t be there in their play, and they could change their formation around."

Keith Hill: "There will be a big crowd, and it will be brilliant to test some of the young players in that atmosphere.

"We have got to make sure we are competitive. We will select a side from the players we have available for training on Thursday and Friday.

"It is time to seize the moment and learn from experiences, taking it into the next opportunity, which is training ahead of the Bradford game."
