Charles Vernam was disappointed following the Bantams’ “tough” 1-0 loss to Salford City in Sky Bet League Two.

Despite creating ample goal-scoring opportunities, City conceded in the 90th minute, condemning them to defeat at the Peninsula Stadium.

Vernam admitted it was a tough setback to accept, before insisting the team must learn lessons from this moving forward.

He said: “It was a horrible way to lose, and we are feeling it just as much as the supporters are.

“It was a game we felt we should have won so, similarly to last weekend, we have dropped points and it is tough to take.

“Us as players have to take it upon ourselves to start putting away our chances.

“As professionals, we need to learn from this and make sure it does not happen again.”

The City winger was full of praise for the Bantams’ 1,299 travelling supporters who "as usual" proved a credit to the club.

The 24-year-old was disappointed he and his team-mates were unable to reward them with three points, but was once again overwhelmed by the atmosphere they created.

He added: “As usual, our supporters were unbelievable.

“They are a credit to this football club and we are always proud to represent them.

“It is up to us to send them home happy, but we let them down in that aspect.

“We now have another week until our next game, so it is important we work on what we need to and come away with a positive result.”
