WATT RELISHING QUICK TURN AROUND

19 October 2021

Elliot Watt insists the quick succession of home fixtures gives City the chance to "put things right" - ahead of tonight's visit of Hartlepool United.

The midfielder is adamant the Saturday/Tuesday rotation can only benefit the Bantams, giving the players an opportunity to make amends following the disappointment of conceding late over the weekend.

Watt - who played his 70th-consecutive game in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday - believes that successive outings at the Utilita Energy Stadium gives the side an advantage - thanks to the passionate City faithful.

He said: “The good thing about having a game on Tuesday is that it gives us an opportunity to go out and put things right.

“I wish we could play every Saturday and Tuesday at home, in front of our supporters.

“When you have the fans behind you, pushing you on, it makes it much easier.

“It is difficult when you have 16,000 cheering you on, not to get emotionally involved.

“The fans demand a lot from the team, but that is how it should be. This is Bradford City; we should be winning most of our games in this league.”

The 21-year-old also spoke on his partnerships with fellow midfielders Levi Sutton and Callum Cooke - following Sutton’s return to the side.

City’s No.18 played a large portion of last season's fixtures alongside the former Scunthorpe United man, which he believes has helped their on-field relationship.

He added: “We have an understanding about what each player is good at, and what we are not good at.

“Levi has the energy to support players further up the pitch, whereas I like to support players from behind. I just let them two get on with it.

“We all know each other's strengths and weaknesses, and we let them balance each other out.”
