VERNAM CALLS FOR ANOTHER ‘SOLID’ DISPLAY

Charles Vernam believes the Bantams must remain solid when travelling to the Sands Venue Stadium - ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with Scunthorpe United.

City descend on North Lincolnshire on the back of a 0-0 draw at home to Oldham Athletic over the weekend, ending a run of two-straight defeats.

The January recruit feels his side made progress on Saturday, and must further build on this when taking on Neil Cox’s men.

Vernam said: “We need to remain solid, as that sets the foundations for us to build on.

“We were all disappointed after the run of defeats we went on, so I think we need to draw positives from the fact we managed to keep a clean sheet and get a result we can develop on.

“Any game after the run we have been on is an opportunity, and this is no different.

“We got a positive result on Saturday, and now is our chance to go out, build on it, express ourselves even more and hopefully get back to winning ways.”

Since arriving from Burton Albion on deadline day, the 24-year-old has been encouraged by the mood around City's camp.

The former Iron academy prospect feels the positivity being instilled into the side gives them more and more encouragement heading into each fixture, and is excited for tomorrow’s fixture, with this in mind.

He added: “The mood has been great, because of the run we have been on.

“It is huge credit to the managers, who have instilled the belief into us that we can play, and we can go out and beat teams.

“If we are to draw games, we are happy to pick up a point and move on. We are always looking forward to the next game, and hopefully picking up more wins along the way.”
