OPPOSITION GUIDE: BOLTON WANDERERS

5 March 2021

The Bantams will be looking to record a sixth-straight win for the first time since 1984 - when hosting in-form Bolton Wanderers at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

The Trotters have picked up 22 points from a possible 24 over the last eight matches and have risen rapidly up the table into 6th place.

We have created this Opposition Guide to take you through all of the key information and insight into Saturday afternoon’s visitors.

Bolton made nine additions in the January window, with five players heading in the opposite direction.

ONES TO WATCH

Alex Bapiste

Experienced defender Baptiste rejoined the Wanderers in the summer from Doncaster Rovers, seven years on from his initial stint in Lancashire between 2013 and 2015.

Aged 35, the former Blackpool man brings a wealth of experience to the Bolton side, having racked up over 500 appearances across his 19-year career so far.

Nathan Delfouneso

Delfouneso joined the Trotters in the summer transfer window from Sky Bet League One side Blackpool, where he netted 24 times in 125 appearances - over a three-year stint.

The former England under-21 international is a product of Aston Villa’s academy and was crowned top scorer for his country in the Under-19 European Championships of 2009, with four goals.

Kieran Lee

The 32-year-old began his career with Manchester United after coming through the academy at the club. He was loaned out to Queens Park Rangers in 2008 before penning a permanent deal with Oldham Athletic at the start of the 2008/09 campaign.

The experienced midfielder made over 100 appearances for the Latics during his four years at Boundary Park and signed for Sheffield Wednesday in 2012. Whilst at Hillsborough, he helped the club to successive Sky Bet Championship Play-Off finishes, losing out on both occasions.

Lee joined Bolton Wanderers in January - on an 18-month contract - following a successful trial period, and has featured seven times so far for the Trotters.

THE CAPTAIN

Antoni Sarcevic put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Bolton in July after three successful years with Plymouth Argyle.

In May 2013, Sarcevic was called up to the England 'C' squad to face Bermuda during his time at Chester, netting the opening goal of the game in a 6-1 win.

The 28-year-old midfielder has also enjoyed spells at Crewe Alexandra, Fleetwood Town and Shrewsbury Town.

THE MANAGER

Bolton announced the appointment of Ian Evatt as their new manager ahead of the 2020/21 season in July, on a three-year deal.

Evatt achieved promotion from the Vanarama National League with Cumbrian outfit Barrow in just his second season of management.

During his playing career, the former defender racked up a total of 534 professional appearances during his time at Derby County, Northampton Town, Queens Park Rangers, Blackpool and Chesterfield.
