TRUEMAN LOOKING FORWARD TO MORECAMBE CHALLENGE

Mark Trueman is relishing the challenge he expects promotion-chasing Morecambe to pose his side - ahead of tomorrow’s meeting at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

City will be looking to return to winning ways when welcoming the sixth-placed Shrimps, having seen their past two fixtures abandoned and postponed respectively.

Trueman feels his men can draw confidence from performances against similarly-placed teams this season, though is aware of the threat Derek Adams’ outfit will provide.

He said: “We have to take confidence from games we have played against sides towards the top end of the league.

“Against the likes of Cambridge United and Tranmere Rovers, we have shown our strengths and given a good account of ourselves, while managing to pick up points.

“Morecambe are a well-organised side who cause a lot of problems. They absorb pressure and counter well, and can hurt a lot of teams.

“We have to try and nullify them as much as possible and apply our game to them.

“It will be a challenge - as they are up at the right end of the table for the right reasons - but it is a game we are looking forward to.”

Trueman is also excited at the prospect of another fixture under the Valley Parade lights, having seen Saturday’s visit of Salford City called off because of a frozen pitch.

He and Conor Sellars take charge of just their fourth home fixture since entering the City dugout, though he is looking for the players to put in another positive performance.

The Bantams’ interim boss added: “We are obviously looking forward to being back at home.

“It is always great to have a home game at Valley Parade, and it is just a shame we still cannot have our supporters in.

“It takes away a lot of the travelling which we have been doing recently, ahead of another long trip to Cheltenham on Saturday.

“We just have to make sure we put in a strong performance and keep progressing as a side.”
