THRELKELD: ‘REST WILL BENEFIT US’

7 December 2021

Oscar Threlkeld feels a weekend off will benefit the Bantams, ahead tomorrow’s match against Colchester United at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

City have not played since last Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup 'replay replay' at Exeter City, and not stepped out at Valley Parade since November 20.

Threlkeld believes the extra rest will be beneficial when it comes to facing the U's, who last played at the weekend in the Emirates FA Cup against Wigan Athletic.

He said: “I do feel the rest will benefit us. It was good for us to have the weekend of to recharge.

“Hopefully, if we can win on Wednesday, that will give us all a lift.

“A few wins on the bounce gives us confidence and the belief to go on and win more matches. We just need to take things one game at a time.”

The defender was also full of praise for manager Derek Adams, who has worked with previously at Plymouth Argyle.

Threlkeld has played 17 games under Adams so far this season, and is confident the Bantams will come good under his leadership, with his personal experience of working with the Scot.

He said: “The gaffer is good to work under. In his past managerial jobs, he has shown he has been successful, and that he works very hard.

“Some people might not like that approach, but as players you need to learn to step over that white line and give it your all.

“He is a winner, he wants to win every game and he is not happy that we have only won two in 12 games.

“As a manger that is coming in off promotion, that is not good enough for us.”
