BIG MATCH PREVIEW: CITY v COLCHESTER

8 December 2021

The Bantams are back at the Utilita Energy Stadium this evening after three-consecutive away trips, looking to get back to winning ways as they welcome Colchester United (7.45pm).

City’s return to West Yorkshire is a welcome one, having only lost once at home in the league this season. The U’s will visit Valley Parade after their exit from the Emirates FA Cup at the hands of Sky Bet League One side Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

Colchester have picked up seven points from their last three league fixtures - drawing with Newport, beating Swindon and ending Exeter’s 20-game unbeaten run with a 3-1 win.

We have created a Big Match Preview to give you all the key details you need to know, heading into the encounter.

TEAM NEWS

City: Andy Cook remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and will be out until after Christmas.

Abo Eisa and Charles Vernam will also miss the visit of Colchester due to their respective injuries picked up against Scunthorpe United and Northampton Town.

Caolan Lavery will be assessed ahead of the clash, with Derek Adams hoping to have his services available in the next week.

WHAT THE MANAGER SAID

Derek Adams: "It was a really difficult period we were in, with a tough schedule having to play all the teams at the top end of the table.

"FA Cup ties and travelling down to Exeter twice was not handy, but now we have a home game to look forward to.

"The atmosphere at home has been fantastic and we have only been beaten once this season there in he league."
