BIG MATCH PREVIEW: CITY v STEVENAGE

17 August 2021

The Bantams will be in action for the third time in just under a week when they take on Stevenage in Sky Bet League Two - at 7.45pm this evening.

Both teams are unbeaten in their opening two league games and have only conceded one goal between them.

To give you all the information you need to know, we have created a Big Match Preview ahead of the encounter.

TEAM NEWS

City: The Bantams will remain without Oscar Threlkeld who is still recovering from an injury. This means Finn Cousin-Dawson is likely to retain his place at right-back.

Gareth Evans, Levi Sutton, and Abo Eisa have all recovered from knocks, meaning all have a chance of being included in Derek Adams’ matchday squad.

Perhaps the biggest news for City is that summer signing Yann Songo’o will be fit enough for selection on Tuesday, should he be picked.

Stevenage: The visitors currently have no injuries or suspensions known of coming into this match.

Former Bantam Jake Reeves is likely to start the match, after an in-form start to the season. If he does, this will be his first time back at the Utilita Energy Stadium since leaving.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Derek Adams: “We are aware Stevenage have started the season very well, so it will be a tough game.

“They play a certain way which will make things difficult for us, but we just have to focus on what we are good at, to get the job done.

“Our confidence is high after our win at the weekend, so we need to take this into the game. We are always looking to improve as a team, and matches like this will only help us do this.”

Alex Revell: “Of course, it will be a tough game, but this is a challenge we are all looking forward to.

“These are the sort of games that we all relish and they show just how good this team is.

“We will need to work hard and be at our best, but with the way we have started the season, we know we are capable of going there and getting another positive result.”
