ADAMS EXPECTING TOUGH STEVENAGE TEST

16 August 2021

City manager Derek Adams is expecting his players to come up against a difficult challenge when hosting Stevenage in Sky Bet League Two tomorrow evening.

Both teams will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten league records when facing off at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

While Adams is expecting a tough test, he insists his players are in good spirits after the weekend’s victory over Oldham Athletic.

He said: “We are aware Stevenage have started the season very well, so it will be a tough game.

“They play a certain way which will make things difficult for us, but we just have to focus on what we are good at to get the job done.

“Our confidence is high after our win at the weekend, so we need to take this into the game.

“We are always looking to improve as a team, and matches like this will only help us do this.”

Adams was also eager to mention how having supporters back at Valley Parade will benefit them over the duration of the season.

The Bantams had the largest attendance in the fourth tier (17,256) over the weekend and Adams believes the City faithful more than played their part in the team’s triumph.

He added: “The game at the weekend was a perfect example of just how important the supporters are.

“Even when we conceded in stoppage-time, they continued to make their voices heard and kept believing in us.

“For me, they were the main reason we picked up the three points and, hopefully, we can get atmospheres on a similar level in every home game.”
