ADAMS DELIGHTED WITH HARD-FOUGHT VICTORY

City manager Derek Adams was thrilled with his side’s dramatic 2-1 triumph over Oldham Athletic in Sky Bet League Two.

Lee Angol’s last-gasp penalty earned the Bantams their first Sky Bet League Two victory of the season - and the Scotsman his first in charge of the club.

Adams was thrilled with the hard-fought manner of the victory and was also full of praise for his players’ strong mentality on the day.

He said: “It was far from easy but, in the end, this was a great victory for us.

“We began the game very well, and should have scored earlier than we did.

“Of course, we had the setback when conceding, but the most encouraging thing for me was how the players carried on going until the final whistle.

“Fortunately, they got their reward for it as well, and this just shows how strong their mentalities are.

“We now have to look ahead to Tuesday which will be another tough game. Stevenage have started the season very well and we will have to be at our best.”

Adams was also pleased to see City's supporters back on mass at Valley Parade for the first time since March 2020.

The Bantams welcomed over 17,000 fans back to the Utilita Energy Stadium, and the Bantams boss admits it made the occassion entirely.

He added: “It was great to see everyone get such a good reception when first walking out onto the pitch.

“The atmosphere around the stadium from start to finish was electric.

“The occasion was fantastic and you could tell the noise got the players up for it, immediately from kick-off.

“It was terrific to see them here again and we are very happy we managed to send them home happy.”
