The Bantams are back on the road in Sky Bet League Two - travelling to Port Vale in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday afternoon.

The Valiants sit one place below City, in 14th - having won 16, drawn nine and lost 18 so far this season.

We have created this Opposition Guide to take you through all of the key information about Darrell Clarke’s side.

TRANSFER ACTIVITY 

Port Vale brought in five players during the January window, as one player departed the club.

INS: Kurtis Guthrie (Bradford City), Tom Scott (Manchester City), Jake Taylor (Nottingham Forest), Mustapha Olagunju (Huddersfield Town, loan), Will Swan (Nottingham Forest, loan).

OUTS: Mitchell Clark (Leicester City, recalled from loan).

ONES TO WATCH

Tom Pope

Pope joined Vale for the first time on loan in early 2011, before signing a permanent deal in the summer. He won Sky Bet League Two’s golden boot during the 2012/13 - season with 31 goals.

The 35-year-old striker left Vale for Bury in 2015, before returning to the club in 2017. He is the club’s record post-war goal-scorer - netting 115 times over three different spells with the club.   

Devante Rodney

The Manchester-born striker penned a three-year contract with the Valiants in the summer. He signed from Salford City where he gained promotion to the Sky Bet EFL. During his time with the Ammies, he was loaned out to Halifax Town and Stockport County.

The 22-year-old represented Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday at youth level before making a permanent move to Hartlepool United in January 2017, where he made his professional debut.

David Worrall

Worrall signed for Port Vale in August 2017 after spending a season at London-based side Millwall. The 30-year-old midfielder has played 151 games for the Valiants, scoring 16 goals and assisting 34. 

Worrall has played for nine different clubs, including a successful spell at Southend United where he won promotion to Sky Bet League One in 2015 through the play-offs - helping beat Wycombe Wanderers 7-6 on penalties at Wembley Stadium.

Theo Robinson

Robinson began his professional career with Watford and has gone onto make over 500 appearances, scoring 123 goals for the likes of Huddersfield Town, Derby County, Doncaster Rovers and Southend United.

The Birmingham-born striker is in his second spell at Vale Park. He re-joined the club in August 2020 on a two-year deal and has featured 34 times for the Midlands-based side since arriving.

THE CAPTAIN

Leon Legge has represented eight different clubs including Tonbridge Angels, Brentford and Gillingham. He has made over 400 career appearances since making his debut in 2002.

The 35-year-old defender joined Port Vale from Cambridge United in 2018 after spending three seasons with the U’s. Legge has played 38 times for Port Vale this season, scoring three.

THE MANAGER

Darrell Clarke was appointed manager of Port Vale in February, following his departure from Walsall. During his managerial career, he has also taken charge of Salisbury City and Bristol Rovers.

As a player, Clarke operated as a midfielder for the likes of Mansfield Town, Hartlepool United, Port Vale and Salisbury City.

LAST TIME OUT 

Two strikes either side of half-time from Tom Conlon proved enough to see the Valiants to all three points against Sky Bet League Two strugglers Barrow.
