Stuart McCall was bitterly disappointed to have left Bolton Wanderers empty-handed, when considering his side’s encouraging second-half performance.
The Bantams proved unable to respond to an early Nathan Delfouneso goal after the break, despite piling pressure on their hosts.
While bemoaning the errors which led to Bolton breaking the deadlock, McCall took positives from his side’s showing after the break.
He said: “I am numb and a bit shell-shocked, because our second-half performance was terrific.
“Yet again, we have given a terrible early goal away which gave them a leg up - thanks to individual errors.
“It was a really poor goal to give away, and we should have done a lot better.
“But, in the second half, we were camped in their half and if we can perform how we did every week then we will certainly win a lot more games than we will lose.
“At times, we got into some fantastic areas. The application and, at times, football was very pleasing.
“I would have maybe even been disappointed with a draw, because we were the much better team, and I am bitterly disappointed to have lost.
“I want us to play how we did here every week. We need to back our performance up at Barrow now, and make sure we start winning games.”
Despite being pleased with his side’s general performance, McCall insists his side must be more clinical in the final third.
Billy Clarke missed a second-half penalty for the Bantams which, among other chances, frustrated the City chief.
He added: “We had other opportunities and should have done better. We needed to be more clinical with the chances we had.
“The penalty was obviously poor, Callum Cooke could have finished a great move in the first half, Bryce Hosannah two good chances and Clayton Donaldson could have done better with a few, as well.
“There are ways to lose games and I am naturally really disappointed, because we deserved more and should have done better with the chances we had.
“We never gave up and were still putting the pressure on and swinging crosses in when the four minutes of added time went up.
“There were a lot of positives and good performances and, if we play with the belief and confidence we did in the second half - and pass the ball around the way we did - we will be put ourselves in a good position.”
