Stuart McCall was disappointed having been made to settle for just a point - following City’s 1-1 draw at home to Walsall.
Despite falling behind halfway through the opening period, the Bantams responded after the break and - having equalised through a Billy Clarke penalty - looked the more likely to take all three points.
McCall felt his side’s second-half showing deserved more than a draw, but took positives from the way they played.
He said: “I am slightly disappointed we did not win the game.
“I thought our second-half performance merited a victory. We had wave after wave of attacks against a stubborn Walsall side - who are now unbeaten in 12 matches.
“It was always going to be a difficult game - especially after going a goal behind to a fantastic strike by their lad, from 25 yards out.
“I thought it was quite an even game in the first half, but we put a spirited performance in - in the second half - and felt we deserved a victory.
“From corners and set pieces, we probably should have got the winning goal in the end, but it was not to be.”
Despite being unable to hide his disappointment, McCall was again pleased by the response from his players, who came from behind to take something from the game.
He feels his side must start games stronger going forward, but was encouraged by the positive attitude.
The City chief added: “We were a little bitty in the first half, but still got into decent areas. We just needed to be better.
“We went behind to a terrific goal. You have to hold your hands up sometimes, with that little bit of quality.
“LIkewise, we should have done better to stop him from getting within 25 yards of our goal from the halfway line.
“I did not want any despondency after half-time. The boys were a little bit flat but we believed we could come out and have a real go at them in the second half, which we did.
“I would rather us not go behind but it is was a good, spirited, strong second-half performance.”
McCall's men are back in action on Saturday (October 24) when welcoming second-placed Newport County to the Utilita Energy Stadium (3.00pm).
