HOSANNAH LOOKING TO ‘BACK-UP’ MANSFIELD GAME

20 October 2020

Bryce Hosannah has insisted the Bantams must follow up on their performance and result against Mansfield Town on Saturday, when hosting Walsall this evening (7.45pm).

City recorded their first away victory of the 2020/21 Sky Bet League Two season with a 3-1 triumph at the One Call Stadium.

And the Leeds United loanee is determined to ensure he and his team-mates continue to build momentum when returning to the Utilita Energy Stadium.

He said: “It was our first away win in a while on Saturday, so that was really good to have got under our belts.

“It was a good game and I thought we did well. We had a disappointing performance against Harrogate so it was an opportunity for us to improve the performance and get a good result, which we did.

“It is important for us to back it up well this evening which we are really aiming to do.

“I feel we have had a decent start to the season and are looking forward to hopefully start driving up that table, starting against Walsall.”

The right-back made his first league appearance for the Bantams in Nottinghamshire, and feels he has settled in well within Stuart McCall’s side and adapted quickly to senior football.

Hosannah, 21, added: “It was great to make my first-ever league start on Saturday.

“I was not expecting it to be in front of no supporters, which was disappointing, but it is something I have been thinking about for a while.

“To get it out of the way was really good and hopefully now I can keep looking forward and helping the team.

“It has been more physical than under-23s football but that is exactly what I was expecting.

“The physical side of the game is something I feel I am adjusting to well. I have always had a lot of energy and am used to playing football, so I feel fit and sharp.

“I have settled in well and feel like my time here is going well. I do not really feel like the new guy any more and feel a bit part of this team.

“It is encouraging to be a part of something we can all be bought into when looking at the league table and we are looking forward to hopefully building upon it.”
