SAMUELS CALLS FOR ‘BETTER’ BANTAMS

Austin Samuels has warned City must improve ahead of this evening’s meeting with Leyton Orient - in order to take form and momentum into another busy run of fixtures.

The Bantams suffered a 3-0 setback at Salford City over the weekend, in what was their first league defeat in three matches.

And, with another hectic schedule approaching, Samuels believes his side’s job will be made more difficult if they prove unable to improve upon performance - beginning tonight.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee said: “The Salford performance was disappointing for all of us and we need to get better.

“Looking back on the chance I had, I should have scored, and was disappointed not to have done.

“Going forward, it is going to get a lot worse and more difficult for us if we cannot keep the ball out of the net and offer as much as we want to when attacking.

“It will be a tough match, because Leyton Orient are on good form and are a strong side. We have to go into the game confident we will be able to get a result.”

Samuels insists he is enjoying his time in West Yorkshire, after penning a season-long loan deal from Wolves in October.

The frontman feels his confidence growing with each game, and is hopeful of being able to contribute towards more goals over the coming weeks and months.

"It has been a good learning curve and I feel men’s football is great for me - and has been better for a lot of young footballers,” the 20-year-old added.

“It is a different environment and I can feel my game developing with every game I play.

“The demands are a lot higher, because there is more to play for, and we all want to win games. I am enjoying the challenge.

“You have to stay positive and take confidence from the fact chances have dropped for you, and will continue to do so.

“I do feel more and more confident with every game, but it is a team sport and we have to make sure - first and foremost - we are performing well, and that will allow individuals to excel.”
