The Bantams return to Papa John’s Trophy action this evening (7.30pm) - with the visit of fellow Sky Bet League Two side Oldham Athletic at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

The Latics sit top of Northern Group F, picking up two victories from their opening two games - against Doncaster Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s respectively.

Oldham Athletic have spent the summer making 19 new signings, with 17 players heading out of the exit door.

ONES TO WATCH

Alfie McCalmont

On loan from Leeds United, McCalmont has been capped by Northern Ireland’s senior team on one occasion - representing their under-21s side eight times.

The 20-year-old midfielder has made five appearances for the Latics, registering one assist in his 374 minutes of action.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson

Borthwick-Jackson is a product of Manchester United’s academy, and made 10 appearances for the Red Devils before loan spells with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds United, Scunthorpe United, Tranmere Rovers and Oldham Athletic.

The 23-year-old former England youth international made his move to the Latics permanent in summer, making a total of 15 appearances for the club so far.

Danny Rowe

31-year-old striker Danny Rowe scored 155 goals for AFC Fylde in his 241 appearances before joining Oldham Athletic in January 2020.

Rowe has made 22 appearances for the Latics, finding the net six times with three assists.

THE CAPTAIN

Carl Piergianni joined Oldham Athletic in January 2020 from Salford City - and has represented the Latics on 25 occasions.

The Italian-English defender made 111 appearances for Salford City - achieving two promotions with the club.

THE MANAGER

Harry Kewell was appointed as Oldham Athletic manager on August 1 - and has taken charge of 15 Latics fixtures with a record of six wins, two draws and seven defeats.

The 42-year-old has had previous managerial spells with Crawley Town and Notts County.

LAST TIME OUT

The Latics progressed to the second round of the Emirates FA Cup with a 3-2 victory over National League South side Hampton & Richmond Borough.
