BOWYER SLAMS ‘SHOCKING’ PERFORMANCE

Gary Bowyer was ‘hugely disappointed’ with his side’s performance, following a 3-0 defeat at Oldham Athletic.

Three first-half goals secured the points for Dino Maamria’s men in what represented a below-par showing from City.

The Bantams boss slated the manner of the goals his men conceded and believes these did not give his side much of a chance at victory.

Bowyer said: “I am hugely disappointed with the performance and the result.

“After the way we performed on Tuesday against Cheltenham, the team and display against Oldham was unrecognisable.

“From the moment we conceded the first goal - with the slip from Anthony O’Connor - we were not good enough and failed to recover.

“The manner of all three goals was absolutely shocking. The alarming thing for me was the way the players crumbled, having conceded the first goal.”

The only positive Bowyer was able to draw from the day was the encouraging performances from his two half-time introductions.

He believes Shay McCartan and second-debutant Dylan Mottley-Henry added more to the team after the break.

The City chief added: “The two players who came on at half-time had a positive impact for us and we saw a slight reaction.

“Shay is a player who we know about, with a lot of ability. You saw him get in some good positions and he has the bravery to get on the ball and try make to things happen.

“Dylan Mottley-Henry looked promising when he came on for us. He had a really good go and did well on his second debut for the club.”

City return to home action at the Utilita Energy Stadium next Saturday, hosting Grimsby Town (3.00pm). CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
