SELLARS PREPARED FOR PORT VALE CLASH

28 December 2020

Newly-appointed joint-interim manager Conor Sellars insists the Bantams are prepared for their final match of the year - against Port Vale tomorrow (7.00pm).

The Bantams welcome the Valiants to the Utilita Energy Stadium on the back of three-consecutive victories, the most recent coming on Boxing Day at Tranmere Rovers.

Sellars admitted the difficulty of adopting a consistent approach with regards to preparation over a busy festive period, but believes the players are ready.

He said: “Preparations have been good - after what was another very positive result and performance on Saturday.

“There are a lot of quick turnarounds, over this Christmas period, but we have to make sure everyone is psychologically ready for the game.

“It will be another good, tough match and we have to make sure we keep our run going, for as long as we can.

“We did not suffer any problems with injuries at Tranmere so we are not expecting to be making massive changes, and hopefully we can keep picking up results.”

Having been announced as the club’s new joint-interim manager alongside Mark Trueman this morning, Sellars is looking forward to working with his City side with more long-term plans in place.

He is committed to continuing to build upon the foundations he and Trueman have laid over the past two weeks, in order to ensure the Bantams keep picking up points.

Sellars added: “It is obviously good news for us and we are pleased to be leading the team.

“We are thankful to Ryan Sparks and the board for their backing, and want to continue the work we have been doing, now we have a clear idea of what is going on and how things will be progressing.

“Both Mark and I are relentless in what we want to do. It gives us time to plan and be more proactive in how we operate and work with the players.

“We have more clarity on how things are going to happen in the longer term, and it is great to be continuing to work within the club’s philosophy - as we try to build a stronger identity.”
