CITY CLAIM THIRD WIN ON BOUNCE AGAINST CRAWLEY

19 October 2019

City recorded their third consecutive victory with a 2-1 triumph at home to Crawley Town.

Goals either side of half-time were enough to seal the points for Gary Bowyer's side, who now sit second in Sky Bet League Two.

The Bantams dominated the early stages and almost drew first blood inside the opening three minutes.

Zeli Ismail's cross eveuntually fell to the feet of returning skipper James Vaughan who was unable to direct his effort on target.

But City were not to be kept out for much longer, taking the lead with 18 minutes on the clock.

Callum Cooke's inventive run freed up space for Zeli Ismail who's pinpoint low centre was met by Harry Pritchard to convert at the near post.

Bowyer's men began the second half with intent and doubled their advantage - three minutes after the restart.

Substitute Daniel Devine played a neat one-two with Aramide Oteh before letting fly from the edge of the area.

His defelcted effort looped past Glenn Morris and into the top corner for the City youth graduate's first goal in claret and amber.

The hosts went in search of a third and almost had it when Oteh's point-blank effort was kept out brilliantly by Morris.

The visitors pulled a goal back with nine minutes remaining, after Reece Grego-Cox's low effort found a way past Richard O'Donnell.

But the Bantams withstood late pressure to hold onto the result and are now unbeaten in five league matches.
