Anthony O’Connor is expecting another closely-contested clash when the Bantams travel to face Oxford United this weekend.

City sit four points behind Saturday’s opponents - and as many from safety - on the Sky Bet League One ladder.

Gary Bowyer’s men pushed league-leading Luton close on Tuesday evening, going down 1-0.

And O’Connor believes City can claim what would be a vital three points at the Kassam Stadium.

The 26-year-old said: “Oxford are a team who, like ourselves, are fighting to get out of the bottom four. It is a huge game.

“If we perform as well as we did on Tuesday, against the top team in the division, we will have a great chance of getting something from the game.

“If the two sides show up, believe me, it will be one heck of a game.

“We knew it was going to be tough on Tuesday. Luton aren’t top of the league for no reason.

“I thought we were unlucky to go behind and unfortunate not to take something from the game.

“We were the better team in the second half and we certainly looked like scoring.

“It wasn’t to be, though, so we must take the positives and move forward.

“Every game in this league is difficult and every opponent offers a different threat.

“Saturday is going to very tough, there is no doubt about it.”
