FORMER CITY SKIPPER TO STAR IN LITERATURE FESTIVAL

11 June 2019

Bantams legend Gary Jones is to play a starring role at this year’s Bradford Literature Festival – as part of a special event focusing on the culture and DNA of Bradford City.

Former City captain Jones is appearing alongside respected Bradford author and City fan John Dewhirst, host Jason McKeown, Ryan Sparks and James Mason.

McKeown, who penned the book Who We Are, will quiz the expert panel over what makes Bradford City such a special football club and their favourite memories.

The event is taking place on Sunday 7 July at the Bradford National Science and Media Museum, starting at 11.30am.

Audience members will be able to ask questions and meet the guests afterwards. Tickets are priced at £7 (standard), £3 (senior citizens), £3 (registered disabled) - or a returned £1 deposit if the state pension is your only income, you receive government-issued benefit/live in social housing or you are a refugee/asylum seeker.

McKeown said: “Last season was a difficult one for everyone connected with Bradford City but the love and affection towards the club remains high across the Bradford District, as witnessed by the amazing season-ticket uptake.

“The event is a chance to get together with like-minded people and celebrate our love of Bradford City, reminisce about happier times and hear some stories.

“With the event taking place on the eve of the 2019/20 season, it will be a great opportunity to discuss how our proud heritage can be used to shape our future.”

Who We Are was published in October 2018 by Bantams Past. It explores the culture and DNA of Bradford City, featuring interviews with the likes of Stuart McCall, Paul Jewell, Gary Jones, Julian Rhodes, Stefan Rupp, Gordon Watson, Matt Kilgallon, Romain Vincelot, Danny Forrest, James Mason, Terry Dolan and John Helm. It is still available to buy at Waterstones Bradford or via the Bantams Past website.
