Bradford City are delighted to announce the signing of Derby County midfielder Jacob Butterfield.

The Bradford-born 28-year-old has joined the Bantams - on loan - until the end of the season.

Butterfield has scored 27 goals and made more than 350 career appearances, having represented Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Bolton, Crystal Palace, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough in addition to his parent club.

City's new No.16 said: “I am delighted to be here, joining my hometown club. When it came to signing for a League One team, Bradford was my first choice.

“I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. This is a massive club, one I know very well, and hopefully I can have a positive influence and really add to the squad.

“Playing in front of the home crowd will be a great feeling. It has always been something I have had in the back of my mind - that I would love to play for Bradford at some point.

“I have friends and family who support the club, so it is certainly an interesting one for me to come and play here.

“I want to make an impact straight away. There is a great deal of quality and, in recent weeks, the team has been in good form.”

Bantams boss David Hopkin added: “We are very pleased to have secured Jacob’s services.

“His record speaks for itself and he will be a fantastic addition for us.

“Jacob will add real competition for places in the middle of the park and we are looking forward to working with him.

“We fully expect him to hit the ground running in training tomorrow and force his way into contention.”

Meanwhile, the club can confirm the departure of Jordan Gibson.

Gibson, 20, has joined Stevenage on loan until the end of the season.
