BANTAMS COMPLETE O'BRIEN SIGNING

13 September 2018

Bradford City have completed the signing of midfielder Jim O’Brien.

The former Celtic and Motherwell player, who has previously enjoyed spells in England with Coventry, Scunthorpe, Shrewsbury and Barnsley, has agreed a short-term contract with the club.

O’Brien, 30, will be a Bantam until at least the end of December and signs following a successful trial period under head coach David Hopkin.

The ex-Ross County man said: “I am really excited to be officially joining the club, it is something I have been working towards for a while.

“I have had to be patient but the gaffer is happy with where I am at fitness-wise and they believe I can add something to the team.

“This is a massive club and it is a real privilege to be here. The fanbase is fantastic and I will give my all.

“It is a relatively short-term deal, so I have an opportunity to earn a longer-team contract.

“When you play for a big club there is always pressure. But I am determined to work hard and make the most of the chance I have been given by David.”

City head coach David Hopkin added: “We are delighted Jim has agreed to join us.

“He is a very experienced player and he will bring a lot to the table.

“Jim adds to what we have. We aren’t interested in just signing any player. We have to know they can make a difference.

“He has trained with us this week and will hopefully come into the mix for Saturday.”

O’Brien’s signing is subject to international clearance.
