CHICKSEN: 'NO MORE EXCUSES'

Returning defender Adam Chicksen has called on his City team-mates to "stop making excuses" - and provide the supporters with a performance they deserve tomorrow.

The 27-year-old, who arrived at the Northern Commercials Stadium last summer, has spent the past two months on the sidelines nursing a fractured fibula.

Chicksen is in line to make a return to Bantams action this weekend as David Hopkin's side play host to pacesetting Portsmouth.

Without a win in five, the former Charlton man insists City must respond tomorrow afternoon (3.00pm).

"I have watched the Gillingham game back and we looked a different class in the first half," said Chicksen, who is sponsored by Lexus Bradford.

"To lose in that way it, after such a good start, shows confidence is very low.

"Once one goal goes in, it doesn’t matter what type of person you are – when you are down at the bottom - it can be hard to bounce back.

"But us as players need to stop making excuses. We need to galvanise, come together and take responsibility that if a goal goes in. We cannot just fall down and die.

"We have to go out there on Saturday and show the fans what it means to play for this club and wear the shirt.

"The current situation hurts me and it has been hard to look on from the medical room.

"The results have not gone our way and that has played on my mind.

"It gives me more fire in my belly and I will stop at nothing to help turn things around. I will run until my legs fall off, even if the gaffer wants me to do 90 minutes.

"I feel fit and have worked very hard to get myself back in shape since getting injured.

"We owe a performance to the fans and we are going to see who wants it the most."

Tomorrow's match is sponsored by Metaltech and gates open at 1.30pm, with tickets available to purchase from 9.00am.
