McCartan Makes Northern Ireland Appearance in Costa Rica Friendly

3 June 2018

City forward Shay McCartan earned his second international cap for Northern Ireland this Sunday evening during their friendly with Costa Rica.

McCartan, who was an unused substitute for Northern Ireland's encounter with Panama on Tuesday night, replaced the injured Liam Boyce five minutes before the break against the Costa Ricans.

Sadly for McCartan, he couldn't help to inspire a Northern Ireland success as they eventually suffered a 3-0 loss to Costa Rica in San Jose.

McCartan earned his first cap for Northern Ireland in late May 2017 against New Zealand, just a few weeks ahead of his move to the Bantams.

Northern Ireland's game with Costa Rica was their second and final match of a two-game tour of Central America.
