City new-boy Karl Henry has emphasised the importance of Emirates FA Cup progression.
David Hopkin’s side travel to take on Peterborough United in the second stage of the competition, tomorrow.
The midfielder, who arrived at the Northern Commercials Stadium last week, insists the Bantams are keen to bounce back from Tuesday’s disappointing defeat at Luton.
Henry said: “The FA Cup is a huge competition. It is well known throughout the world and is a good opportunity for us.
“As players you want to win games, especially on the back of a heavy defeat - and we want to put Tuesday’s result right.
“It gives us a chance to get through to the next round, which would be massive for the club, both financially and on the pitch.
“The lads did really well against Peterborough a couple of weeks ago and we want to go there with the same level of performance.”
Henry put pen to paper on an initial two-month contract with the club last Friday.
The former Premier League player, who previously plied his trade with Bolton Wanderers, says he had “no hesitation” in becoming a Bantam.
Henry explained: “I am hoping I can use my experience to do as well as I can for the club and get as many results as we can.
“I have been in a fair few relegation battles throughout my career, so it is probably something I am synonymous with.
“The job is clear, we need to get out of the position we are in and move forward.
“I have just turned 36 but still have a lot to offer. I am keen to play as much as possible.
“We are in this situation and we must sort it out. Helping keep Bolton up last year, in difficult circumstances, proves I am not worried about the challenge facing us.
“I am battle-hardened and see this as an opportunity for me to help move the club out of the relegation zone.”
