BRIGHTON-BASED ARTIST CHOSEN FOR PLAY-OFF FINAL COVERS

19 May 2017

Sky Bet, the EFL title sponsor, have commissioned Brighton-based illustrator Alexander Wells to design the programme covers for the Sky Bet Play-Offs.

The artist, who worked alongside Sky Bet Championship club Wolves throughout the 2016/17 season to design their programmes, was asked to produce three covers for each of the finals, using a similar graphic style to bring each of the participating clubs’ adopted mascots to life.

The Sky Bet League One Play-Off cover to be used on Saturday [20 May] depicts the Bradford City bantam and the Millwall lion gazing ahead to the upcoming battle, with Wembley Stadium in the background.

The covers will use the colourways of each of the three EFL divisions, silver for Sky Bet League One, red for League Two and gold for the Sky Bet Championship.

The back cover features each of the three Play-Off Final trophies with Sky Bet ribbons.

Alexander said: “It was great fun working across the Wolves programmes this year researching the stories behind the nicknames and histories of the clubs to represent them properly on the covers.

“The travelling fans to Wolves seemed to really take well to the illustrations of their club and it’s been good to work on the League One and League Two finalists too.

“I hope the fans enjoy my work and the Play-Offs deliver on the field.”
