PARKINSON PREPARING FOR ANOTHER HOME ENCOUNTER

22 October 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson knows City will have to be prepared for another challenging home game with much-fancied Wigan Athletic due at the Coral Windows Stadium this Saturday.

Fresh from Tuesday's success over play-off hopefuls Bury, City face another side this weekend who have ideas on moving up the league table in Gary Caldwell's Wigan.

Having dropped from the Premier League to Sky Bet League 1 in two straight seasons, Wigan have spared no expense in trying to assemble a squad this campaign that is capable of gaining promotion up into the Championship.

While City were defeating Bury at Valley Parade during the week, this Saturday's opponents were coming out on top in a five-goal contest away at Peterborough United.

Parkinson is understandably keen for City to build on the morale-boosting Bury win but he knows that they will have to be ready to combat and overcome the various threats within the Latics line up.

He said: "Wigan will represent a slightly different challenge to Bury.

"After a slow start, Wigan have started to get their season together with a few recent good results.

"I saw them play at Bury in a game that ended 2-2.

"They have some talented players that we will have to be at our best on the day to deal with.

"We will be working towards that between now and kick off time on Saturday.

"It is always good to go into another home game after a win.

"Like Tuesday, no-one is going to hand us the three points on Saturday. We are going to have to earn them.

"Although we enjoyed the victory on Tuesday, we haven't allowed time to pat ourselves on the back too much.

"Preparations have quickly turned to Wigan this Saturday."
