As City begin their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy campaign against Barnsley this Tuesday evening (7:45pm kick-off) at the Coral Windows Stadium, we wanted to run you through the main rules of the competition.
The match will be a second round tie in the North East section of this season's competition. This tie is rearranged from last Tuesday after the original match was postponed just before kick off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Full Strength Team Policy
Each club must include in its starting line-up at least six of the eleven players who started the Club fixture immediately preceding or following the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie.
Alternatively, a club must include in its starting line-up at least six of the eleven players who have made the most starting appearances in League and domestic cup competitions during the season so far.
Extra Time
There is no extra time in any round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy prior to the Final. If the scores remain level after ninety minutes in any game then the tie will immediately be settled by a penalty shootout.
Substitutes
The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy continues to make provision for only five substitutes to be named on the teamsheet.
The winners of Tuesday's tie will play host to Sky Bet League 2 side York City in the Area Quarter-Finals on the week commencing 9 November 2015. Tuesday's rearranged tie will be City's first Johnstone's Paint Trophy match at the Coral Windows Stadium since August 2011.
