With the rain crashing down in the second period, Greg Leigh opened the scoring in delightful fashion just after the hour mark when he latched onto Billy Knott's pass before coolly lofting the ball over Aldershot 'keeper Phil Smith.

Tony McMahon made the tie safe later in the half from the penalty spot after City substitute Luke James had been brought down by Shots defender Omar Beckles.

The Bantams will now entertain Chesham United in the second round on Sunday 6 December 2015 - kick off 2:00pm - at the Coral Windows Stadium.

The only downside on a night that saw City keep a record fifth clean-sheet on the trot was the sight of James Hanson limping off with a twisted ankle.

90+2min: McGinty's angled ball into the box from deep just evades the reach of Charlie Walker before going out for a goal kick as the striker looks to pounce from around ten yards out.

90min: Dan Walker cuts inside from the left flank before driving in a low strike from outside the box that rolls wide of Williams' near post. 

89min: McMahon's drive from outside the area deflects up off Beckles before Smith scrambles across his goal to prevent the ball going out for a corner.

86min: Knott's rising drive from just outside the box goes over Smith's bar.

84min: Williams' long kick forward bounces all the way through to James, giving the striker the opportunity to run towards Aldershot's penalty box. Luke Oliver forces James wide and the substitute's angled drive is blocked by Smith. The ball drops out to McMahon but his effort on the rebound is blocked by an Aldershot defender.

84min: SUB - Aldershot bring on Tom Richards for Hatton.

81min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Christopher Routis for Liddle.

79min: Beckles scoops the ball over the bar from Hatton's corner delivery.

77min: Williams looks to gather up McArdle's headed back but the ball breaks free with Brodie pressuring. Stevenson tries to scramble the ball into the vacant goal but Nathan Clarke does enough to put him off before City can eventually clear up.

75min: With a couple of Aldershot players waiting behind him to pounce from close range, Darby makes a vital headed clearance to get Alexander's teasing cross out of City's box.

72min: The resulting free-kick into the area causes some concern for City but the Bantams eventually scramble the ball away after first blocking an effort from Browne.

72min: YELLOW CARD - Marshall is booked for standing in the way of an Aldershot free-kick just inside the visitors' half of the pitch.

70min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Luke James for Cole.

69min: Hatton's free-kick into the box is headed on by Beckles but Williams is just able to gather up ahead of a lurking Brodie.

66min: SUB - Aldershot bring on Rhys Browne Lathrope.

65min: What a save from Smith! Stephen Darby's hanging cross is pulled back by Marshall towards Knott but the midfielder's effort from a few yards out is somehow kept out by the out-stretched right arm of Smith. The save was all the more impressive given the fact that the Aldershot shot-stopper appeared to be initially moving in the wrong direction before making the stop.

59min: SUB - The Bantams do indeed bring on Billy Clarke for Hanson.

58min: Hanson has hobbled down the tunnel, Billy Clarke looks set to come on...

57min: Play is continuing with City temporarily down to ten men - it doesn't look good for Hanson's chances of carrying on in the game.

55min: Hanson is down receiving treatment from Head Physio Matt Barrass after feeling the force of Stevenson's clearing tackle.

54min: The rain is beginning to come down with some intensity now...

53min: Dan Walker's cross finds Charlie Walker inside the box, with the striker taking the ball on his chest before firing narrowly over the bar on half-volley.

52min: McMahon fires over with a strike from outside the box.

50min: Nathan Clarke heads into the side-netting following McMahon's hanging corner delivery.

45min: There will be one minute of time added on at the end of the first half.

43min: Marshall's cross into the box sits up for the lurking McMahon and the midfielder's effort on the half-volley takes a deflection before looping up over the bar for a City corner.

42min: YELLOW CARD - Brodie is booked for knocking the ball away just as City look to take a free-kick just inside Aldershot's half of the pitch. 

30min: Charlie Walker's clipped ball into the box is headed down by Brodie into the path of the on-rushing Jim Stevenson and the midfielder's forceful drive is importantly repelled by the legs of Williams. A decent chance for Aldershot there!

29min: Knott's low drive from outside the box rolls wide of Smith's goal.

28min: McMahon's resulting free-kick delivery is kept alive by McArdle and Nathan Clarke before the ball drops invitingly for Gary Liddle from close range. With the ball in the air, Liddle goes for the acrobatic volley but his connection isn't clean and Aldershot can clear.

28min: YELLOW CARD - Smith is booked for clipping Cole as the striker beats the goalkeeper to Knott's forward pass. With the 'keeper outside his area and the striker's momentum taking him away from goal, a caution is probably the right decision.

27min: Cole's flick on looks to try and get Hanson in with a sight of goal but an alert Beckles is just able to head back to Smith in time ahead of the lurking striker.

25min: Picking up a loose ball inside the box, Marshall fires for goal but his low angled drive is held by his near post by Smith.

24min: A mis-directed header from McArdle following Hatton's hanging cross into the box causes a moment's concern in City's defence but Williams is eventually able to gather. 

20min: Mark Marshall gets the better of Cheye Alexander just inside the box before firing in a low angled drive that is tipped onto the near post by Phil Smith!

18min: Cole takes Knott's forward pass in his stride before bursting towards Aldershot's penalty area. The striker tries to use his pace to get beyond the visitors' defence but a combination of Beckles and McGinty squeezes him out.

17min: Dan Walker knocks the ball past Greg Leigh before firing in a low cross into a dangerous area in the six yard box. Despite a number of bodies being in the box, the testing delivery is held by a watchful Williams.

15min: Sean McGinty goes on a forward run with some purpose into City territory down on Aldershot's left flank. His eventual cross into the box, however, sails wide of the side-netting by Williams' near post.

12min: McArdle's ball forward is superbly brought down thanks to some fine control from Cole just outside Aldershot's penalty area. The striker goes to shoot but his effort is smothered by the diving body of Luke Oliver. The ball bounces up and appears to hit Beckles near his arm but play continues.

10min: A shot on the turn from Brodie inside the box is parried out by Williams. Sam Hatton is onto the loose ball but his follow-up shot is held by the City shot-stopper.

9min: A nice passing move involving Tony McMahon, Billy Knott and Devante Cole eventually sees McMahon just inside the box with shooting space. McMahon tries to venture further forward but his progress is halted by a well-timed tackle by Damon Lathrope.

6min: Rory McArdle's headed clearance drops into the path of the lurking Richard Brodie but his left-footed effort on the half volley from the edge of the box sails comfortably high and wide of Ben Williams' goal.

0min: The Bantams kick off the first round replay. They will attack towards the T.L Dallas Stand end in the first period.
