LONDON TO AMSTERDAM IMAGES

6 June 2014

After weeks of preparation, City's four charity cyclists finally begun their bike ride from London to Amsterdam this Friday morning.

Former Bantams defender Louis Horne, one-time associate director Billy Bingham, plus City staff duo Steven Hawthorn-Emmett and Luke Gallagher, joined more than 150 members of the football family in cycling from London to Amsterdam over this Friday and Saturday in support of Prostate Cancer UK - The Football League's long-term Official Charity Partner.

Shane Duff - a City player during the 2010/2011 season - is also in the saddle for the charity trek representing another of his former clubs, Cheltenham Town.

Representatives from more than 50 clubs in total joined the peloton at Leyton Orient FC in the early hours of Friday morning for the exciting 150-mile challenge which hopes to raise £150,000 for the charity.

The Grand Depart took place in East London early on this Friday morning from Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium. The group will then head out of London through rural English countryside before stopping off at a second ground, Colchester United’s Weston Homes Community Stadium, for refreshments.

After completing the 90 mile sojourn to Harwich by dusk, the intrepid team cross the Channel overnight, before riding a further 60 miles across the flat landscape of Dutch Zeeland. The climax sees the peloton arrive in the country’s capital and its network of canals, cobbled streets and wonderful architecture.

The club's official website can bring you some images from the trek which have been kindly provided by one of the City cyclists on the way down to Amsterdam, Billy Bingham.
