LATEST FROM IRELAND

17 July 2014

After a recovery day yesterday (Wednesday) following Tuesday's friendly at UCD, Phil Parkinson's Bantams stepped it up several notches this Thursday by undergoing intense morning and afternoon training sessions.

On a glorious sunny morning at their Irish base, Parkinson's squad took part in an extensive football session on pitches at their hotel.

Despite taking a kick to his achilles during the UCD game, Gary Liddle was fit enough to take part in the session.

Billy Knott, who picked up a whack against UCD, and James Meredith, who injured his foot in training on Monday, were not risked for the full session but they were at least able to take part in some drills on the pitch with Head Physio Matt Barrass.

Given the duo's current progress from their individual injuries, both Knott and Meredith could now have a chance of featuring against Shelbourne this Saturday.

After receiving further treatment on a calf problem today (Thursday), it seems unlikely, however, that Aaron Mclean will be selected for any part in the Shelbourne friendly.

Taking aside out-of-contract duo Jon McLaughlin and Raffaele De Vita, Angelo Balanta and Nick Arnold remain the only trialists currently with the Bantams squad.

The afternoon saw City's players in the gymnasium for strengthening work.
