Bennett ban reduced

30 January 2014

City winger Kyle Bennett's three-match ban for his sending off during Tuesday's Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Preston North End has been reduced to only one game after a successful appeal from the football club.

Bennett was originally in line to miss the Bantams' next three matches after being dismissed for violent conduct during an altercation with Preston's Neil Kilkenny midway through the first half.

The Bantams appealed the decision, however, as it was felt by the club that a three-match ban was too severe a punishment for the winger given the limited contact involved in the incident.

The club chose to appeal the length of the ban instead of the actual ban itself after receiving advice from the relevant parties.

Following an F.A disciplinary hearing this Thursday afternoon, it was decided by the Football Association to reduce Bennett's ban down to one single match.

This all means that Bennett will now only miss this Saturday's trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers and he will be free to face Crewe Alexandra at the Coral Windows Stadium the following weekend.
