npower League 2
Bradford City 1 (Wells 14)
Oxford United 2 (Rigg 19, Leven pen 90)
Kick Off: 3.00pm
at the Coral Windows Stadium

Attendance: 10,087 (260 visitors)

City suffered a frustrating defeat by Oxford United in their first home league game of the new calendar year thanks to a disputed penalty in the final minute of normal time.

Despite seemingly taken some of the ball, City defender Stephen Darby was adjudged to have brought down Oxford attacker Alfie Potter in the box, allowing Peter Leven to win it for the visitors with a late spot-kick.

Nahki Wells had given City the lead as early as the fourteen minute when he capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Oxford defender Michael Duberry and 'keeper Wayne Brown to slot home from close range.

Sean Rigg equalised for Oxford five minutes later, however, when he thundered home a half-volley from outside the area.

In fairness to Chris Wilder's Us, the victory, despite coming in controversial circumstances, was probably a deserved one with City looking distinctly off-colour for large parts.

Even before Leven's later winner, Oxford had seen a second period header from Potter cleared off the line by Carl McHugh before Rigg struck the bar with a header of his own later in the half.
