The Bantams started their home fixtures for another season in near-perfect fashion as they demolished Carlisle United in a hugely one-sided affair.

Played out in a carnival atmosphere created by a bumper home crowd of over 13,600, City's home opener at the Coral Windows Stadium - their first at League 1 level in over six years - was won in comfortable fashion thanks to goals from Mark Yeates, Nahki Wells, James Hanson and Gary Jones.

Yeates kicked off the cakewalk for Phil Parkinson's men in style after twenty minutes when he let rip with a stunning angled drive from outside the area that found the top corner for his first goal for the club on his home debut.

It was two for Parkinson's side four minutes later when the dangerous Wells, who was a constant menace all afternoon, beat Carlisle 'keeper Mark Gillespie to Paul Thirlwell's attempted header back before slotting home from a tight angle.

With City totally dominant at this stage, they snatched a third just a further five minutes on when Hanson took advantage of a slip from Carlisle defender Danny Livesey to confidently slot past Gillespie from just inside the area.

City were completing cruising as Hanson netted their third, with Garry Thompson, Wells and Yeates enjoying further chances to score either side of half-time.

The Bantams did register a fourth with just over twenty minutes to go when Wells lead a swift City break forward before squaring to an unmarked Jones to strike the ball past a helpless Gillespie with relative ease.

For City, the thoroughly-deserved victory sees them build on their hard-earned point picked at Bristol City in the season-opener last weekend.

In fairness to Carlisle, they weren't helped by playing extra-time against Blackburn Rovers as recently as Wednesday evening, but there was still no denying that the scoreline didn't flatter the Bantams at all.

City could easily have netted more on an afternoon when they treated their fans to a stylish display.

FT: Bradford City 4 Carlisle United 0

90+3min: Black's low cross into the area eventually finds the lurking Lynch in the middle but his drive from just inside the area is slashed well wide.

90+3min: Jones lines up a drive from outside the area but his effort is deflected, taking all the power out of it in the process, and Gillespie can gather as the ball sits up nicely for him.

90+1min: Berrett sends a wide free-kick from just outside the area curling a yard or two over the bar.

90min: There will be three minutes of time added on at the end of the match.

86min: De Vita beats Black in the air to Jones' clipped inswinging delivery into the area but his header from around ten yards out flies a few yards wide.

84min: SUB - Wells, who leaves the pitch to a stunning reception, is replaced by Connell.

80min: De Vita steals in at the far post to connect with Stephen Darby's hanging cross into the area but Italian can only side-foot a hard-volley a couple of yards wide from around fourteen yards out.

79min: CHANCE - Wells is denied again! Meredith's low cross from by the byline eventually finds the lurking Wells just outside the six yard box but the striker is denied by the fingers tips of Gillespie as he produces a fine reaction stop to tip the shot around the post.

77min: Reid plays Wells into plenty of space on City's left flank. The striker surges forward into the area but he turns into traffic as he tries to work the ball onto his right foot and Lynch blasts clear.

75min: David Amoo's cross into the area has to be dealt with by McLaughlin, who punches out with Beck lurking. Lynch tries to divert the ball back goalwards but Jones can clear.

72min: CHANCE - James Berrett's dangerous cross into the area from a wide free-kick causes a moment's panic inside City's area as Mark Beck and Feely try to force the ball home. Davies seems to get a boot on the ball as it loops up off a couple of bodies before dropping onto the roof of McLaughlin's goal.

70min: SUB - Carlisle bring on Paul Black for Brough.

70min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Kyel Reid for Yeates, who receives a standing ovation upon his departure from the pitch.

67min: GOAL!!!!! Bradford City 4 Carlisle United 0 - The Bantams have a fourth of the afternoon through the skipper Jones! With Carlisle pushed up, Wells robs Patrick Brough of the ball just inside the visitors' own half to leave the Bermudian racing clear for the penalty area and City with a three-on-one situation. Wells gets into the area before squaring for the unmarked Jones to fire home past a helpless Gillespie.

66min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Raffaele De Vita for Thompson.

63min: CHANCE - Yeates shows some superb skill to dance his way into a shooting position inside the Carlisle area, leaving two defenders in his trail. With the crowd still purring over the attacker's skill, Yeates unfortunately can't quite finish the move with a goal as his poke forward lacks the power required and is comfortably held by Gillespie.

60min: Yeates' delivery into the area from the short corner that follows is missed by Gillespie under pressure from McArdle but Thompson can only fire the loose ball wide from around fourteen yards out.

60min: Nathan Doyle's neat flick forward plays Wells into plenty of space inside Carlisle's area but his strike from a tight angle is smothered behind by Gillespie.

59min: SUB - Carlisle bring on Jack Lynch for Liam Noble.

53min: Hanson's looping header from Meredith's flighted cross drops a couple of yards over.

51min: CHANCE - Wells has two bites of the cherry to grab his second of the game! The striker gets the better of Livesey to latch onto James Meredith's ball over the top before running into the area. The Bermudian's first strike for goal is saved by Gillespie but Wells still looks set to drive home the loose ball with the 'keeper grounded. The forward strikes with confidence but his effort is superbly blocked by the diving frame of Feely before Thompson volleys the rebound narrowly wide of goal.

48min: CHANCE - Lewis Guy's neat flick forward sees the overlapping Brad Potts in with a clean sight of Jon McLaughlin's goal. The right back runs on but his low drive from an angle is weak and McLaughlin is able to save with relative ease.

46min: Carlisle restart the match.

HT: Bradford City 3 Carlisle United 0

45+4min: Gillespie has to race clear out of his area to stop Wells running onto Yeates' forward pass. The 'keeper had to do something similar a minute or so earlier when he headed clear outside his box to prevent Hanson from pouncing.

45min: There will be four minutes added on at the end of the first half.

43min: Hanson latches onto Thompson's quickly-taken throw-in forward but the striker's first-time header for goal from the edge of the Carlisle area sails a couple of yards wide of Gillespie's goal.

40min: CHANCE - City could have a fourth! Yeates spots Thompson in space inside the Carlisle area before picking out his fellow winger with a well-placed pass. Thompson drives for goal around ten yards out but his strike crashes against the chest of Gillespie before bouncing clear.

39min: Gary Jones latches onto a loose ball on the edge of Carlisle's penalty area following a half-cleared City throw-in but his volley sails well wide of the target.

36min: SUB - Carlisle are going for a reshuffle as they replace Josh Gillies with Kevin Feely.

32min: Yeates' direct free-kick from distance is straight at Gillespie.

29min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!! Bradford City 3 Carlisle United 0 - It's three for the Bantams now! Hanson is presented with an opportunity to run at Gillespie when Livesey slips just outside Carlisle's penalty area. With the ball at his feet, Hanson drives into the area before beating the Carlisle shot-stopper with a fine low finish into the bottom corner around fourteen yards out with his supposedly weaker right foot.

24min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bradford City 2 Carlisle United 0 - It's three in three for the season for Wells as the striker doubles City's lead barely four minutes after Yeates' opener. Following Hanson's flick forward, Thirlwell tries to head back to his 'keeper but Wells anticipates it and nips the ball off Gillespie. The striker is forced slightly wide as he takes the ball away from Gillespie but he still is able to steady himself and fire the ball into the net from a relatively tight angle.

20min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bradford City 1 Carlisle United 0 - Yeates marks his home debut for the Bantams with a stunning opening goal of the game! After receiving the ball from Thompson, Yeates cut inside from his left flank position before crashing in a superb right-footed drive into the far top corner from over 20 yards out.

18min: Thompson meets Mark Yeates' near post corner but his flicked header for goal is deflected a yard or so wide.

10min: Wells beats Livesey in a foot race after a weak header back by Paul Thirlwell to see the Bermudian in with a run on goal. In fairness to the Carlisle defender though, Livesey manages to force Wells slightly wide and the Bermudian's eventual strike on goal lacks to power to trouble Gillespie, who dives to his right to gather.

8min: A delightful through ball with the outside of his boot from Wells plays Hanson in with a sight of goal around the edge of Carlisle's penalty area. Hanson narrowly reaches the pass before the on-rushing Mark Gillespie but the Carlisle 'keeper is still able to just get enough on the striker's poke for goal before Livesey can clear the loose ball.

8min: Wells turns away from Danny Livesey inside the area after latching onto James Hanson's header forward but the Bermudian's low side-footer is simple for Gillespie to cling onto.

3min: After driving to the edge of the penalty area, Nahki Wells lays the ball off to Garry Thompson but the winger's rising drive from just outside the area sails well over the bar.

0min: The Bantams kick off the match. They will attack towards the T.L Dallas Stand which houses the Carlisle United supporters in the first half.
