Substitute Alberto Seidi was involved once again as he provided a fizzing cross which was thundered over by the head of fellow substitute Michael Rankine.
Aldershot failed to clear their lines once more from a City set-piece and James Meredith headed the ball back into the mix for Wells to produce an acrobatic overhead kick with the post denying him his hat-trick.
'The Shots' handed debuts to loanees Dani Lopez and Alberto Seidi and it was the latter who powered a header over the bar from Danny Hylton's delivery.
The hosts were looking weak at the back and a lapse in concentration allowed Hanson to charge into the area; his low shot was pushed away by Young but Nahki Wells was on hand to crash the ball in for his and City's second, merely 5 minutes before the interval.
City were almost undone when Matt Duke flapped at an Aldershot corner and with the goal barely guarded Danny Hylton hammered a shot towards goal but Stephen Darby was on the goal line to block the ball away.
The Bantams were the better team in the opening stages and the pressure paid dividends. Sonny Bradley was pressured to pass back towards Shots' keeper Young, his pass fell short and Wells raced through to confidently slot home to keep his impressive goal tally rising.
A few minutes later, Hanson tried to find another opening but the ball came back to Nathan Doyle who cut inside before forcing Jamie Young into an acrobatic save with a thunderous shot from just outside the area.
The first decent opportunity that came City's way fell to James Hanson. A flick on from Hanson towards Wells deflected off a defender into his path and he blazed well over the bar from the edge of the area.
Nahki Wells stole the show on a cold afternoon in the Deep South of the country. Two first half strikes from The Bermudian was enough to see off Aldershot who stayed rooted to the foot of the npower League 2 table.
Following a bout of head tennis in and around the Aldershot area Zavon Hines tried an overhead kick of his own from the edge of the area that crept a yard or so wide .
A dangerous deep cross from Ben Herd was nodded wide at the back post by Danny Hylton just about summing up their day as Aldershot slumped to another defeat with 'The Bantams' travelling back up to West Yorkshire with all three points under their belt.
