Thompson's delight at winner

29 August 2012

City match-winner Garry Thompson spoke of his delight post-match after sealing the Bantams' place in the Capital One Cup third round draw with a dramatic late winner at Watford.

With the time seemingly heading into extra-time thanks to Kyel Reid's 85th minute equaliser, Thompson popped up in the fourth and final minute of injury time to decisively turn the game in City's favour with his first goal for the club.

Thompson admitted to Bantams Player: "I had arms and feet all over me with people trying to jump all over me (after scoring), it was a bit crazy!"

"Nobody wanted extra-time so we're delighted that we could win it in normal time.

"I think we deserved to win it overall. Watford had a lot of possession but I don't think they hurt us too much apart from their goal.

"We probably could have led at half-time, but thankfully we're still gone on and won it. For everyone who has come to the game with the club, it's great for them to travel back with a win like this."
