Parkinson promises strong side

1 August 2012

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says he plans to field a strong side tonight (Wednesday 1 August 2012) in their latest pre-season friendly against Guiseley AFC.

Parkinson is planning to step up his side's preparations for the forthcoming campaign at Guiseley's Nethermoor ground this evening - and that could mean giving some of his players their longest run out yet.

With less than two weeks to go until City's travel to Notts County in the Capital One Cup Round One, Parkinson is keen to get more of his players ready to go the distance.

Parkinson said: "Tonight will be a strong side and will probably see some of the lads getting longer on the pitch than they have been playing in pre-season so far.

"The initial plan is for those who have been playing 60 minutes recently to stretch that out a bit more now. Some players have already played 90 minutes though so this may not include them."

"Guiseley are a good side at their level so we are looking forward to a good match."

After missing out on last Saturday's friendly with League of Ireland side Bray Wanderers due to illness, Andrew Davies is likely to make his return to play some part against the Blue Square Bet North side.

Garry Thompson, who has yet to feature in any of City's three friendlies so far this summer due to a hamstring strain, is expected to not be risked again, however.
