Mark Hughes was pleased with his side's first-half performance, following this afternoon’s 2-1 victory over Scunthorpe United.

The Bantams scored two goals in the opening five minutes on their way to securing Hughes' first victory at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

The City boss was pleased with his side's showing, and would like to see them build.

He said: “I thought the first half was excellent. I thought it was the best football we have played since I walked through the door.

“We could have won by a handful if we are honest, as we certainly had the chances to do that.

“Overall, I am not displeased at all. I think the way we played in the first half is the level I want us to be at.

“The trick now is to be able to produce that for a full 90 minutes. If we do that, we will be very difficult to beat.”

Despite already being relegated, Hughes praised the challenge today's visitors provided, and credited his side for remaining professional.

He added: “You cannot take liberties. It does not matter what opposition you are up against, or their circumstances.

“You have to approach it in the right manner. You have to respect the game and respect your opponents.

“You do that by playing to the best level you can produce, and that is what we did.”
